Some famous quotes of Swami Vivekananda on Youth –
Swami Vivekananda & Youth.
"Act on the young men and women, educate them, bring them together and organise them. Great things can be done by doing this."
"Let your preparations be wise, correct and of such kind that will lead to your true welfare, supreme good and lasting satisfaction and happiness. This must engage your active, enthusiastic attention throughout the period of your Youth Life."
Very profound thoughts! Aren’t they?
Every one of us, wish to lead towards self-true welfare & supreme good, has lasting satisfaction and happiness. This is not a wishful thinking; we have a birth right for living such kind of a life. Here, one might question about what is wrong – why most of the people, especially the Youth is under stress? Not living the satisfied and happy life.
Why there is a steady increase in Youth distress, when the period is (developmental) not inherently characterized by “storm and stress?” Youth is a period of transformation, not going into depression mode. So what’s the problem—and what can we do about it?
Development is the most important task of youth phase by creating self-Identity. Identity is how you walk in the world. It’s a sense of knowing who you are, what you believe, where you fit, and where you’re going. It includes being at home in your body, having personal agency, and feeling sameness through time, all of which contribute to a general sense of well-being. Finding a healthy identity is the central task of Youth especially that of the adolescent.
Today’s Youth especially adolescents struggle with their identity and with the core questions that invite them to answer: who am I, where My fit is (in education, career and the society in which I live), and is it the right path where I am going? According to the article Why are so many Indians stressed? Published on times of India Indiatimes website dated Feb 22, 2021, 82% of Indians are stressed out today. The rising stress levels even made India earn the title of being one of the most depressed countries in the world, some years back. Another article published by the same media dated April 24, 2023, quotes that there is a Rise of depression amongst young adults in India. As per the article of all factors associated with depression in Indian youth, one of the major factors of depression among Indian youth is the pressure to succeed academically.
